| There
are a number of alerts and notifications that RoutXpress can
send.
If a rule is enacted and RoutXpress re-routes a user’s
print job to another printer, a IM (Instant Message) will
be sent to the user, notifying him that his job was routed
to another printer and it is now ready to be picked up.
This is very popular with employees and helps improve productivity.
In the past, employees would send a print job to the network
printer only to find that someone else’s print job had caused
a paper jam and now they would have to unclog the printer
to get their print job. This does not happen when RoutXpress
is running on the network. RoutXpress would know there was
a paper jam and route the next print job to the next best
printer and send an IM to the user, notifying them of the printer
their job was sent to and that it is now ready to be picked
up.
RoutXpress can also send e-mail notifications when directed
by the Administrator’s rules. For example; when a printer
goes down and needs to be serviced, RoutXpress can send
an e-mail to the service provider, help desk, and administrator
notifying them which printer needs attention. RoutXpress
also lessens the severity of this occurrence by routing
all the print jobs that employees are sending to the “down”
printer, to another printer that is up and running.
